Job Overview:
The Department for International Trade (DIT) is a United Kingdom government department responsible for striking and extending trade agreements between the UK and non-EU states. DIT helps businesses export, drives inward and outward investment, negotiates market access and trade deals, and champions free trade. Our mission is to create a more open, accessible, and fair trading environment globally.
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as DIT Interns. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international trade and government operations. As an intern at the DIT, you will work alongside seasoned professionals, contributing to meaningful projects that support the UK’s global trade agenda.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to support trade negotiations and identify opportunities for UK businesses in international markets.
- Data Management: Assist in the collection, management, and analysis of trade data, ensuring accuracy and relevance for reporting and strategic planning.
- Report Preparation: Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations on various trade-related topics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Event Support: Assist in organizing and executing trade events, workshops, and seminars aimed at promoting UK trade and investment.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support engagement activities with key stakeholders, including businesses, trade associations, and government bodies.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties to support the smooth operation of the team, including scheduling meetings and maintaining records.
Job Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in International Relations, Economics, Business, Political Science, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated interest in international trade and economic policy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Previous internship or work experience in government, international trade, or a related field.
- Familiarity with trade data analysis and economic modeling tools.
- Additional language skills are a plus.
