The House of Commons of the United Kingdom is the lower house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals for our House of Commons Internship program. This internship provides a hands-on experience in parliamentary procedures, public policy development, and the inner workings of the UK government. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Members of Parliament (MPs) and parliamentary staff, contributing to various projects and initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conducting research on legislative issues, policy proposals, and parliamentary proceedings.
- Assisting MPs and parliamentary staff with administrative tasks, including drafting documents, preparing briefings, and organizing meetings.
- Monitoring media coverage and public opinion on key political issues.
- Providing support during parliamentary debates, committee meetings, and constituency events.
- Contributing to the development of policy papers, speeches, and parliamentary reports.
- Engaging with constituents and stakeholders to gather feedback and address concerns.
- Collaborating with other interns and colleagues across different departments to achieve common objectives.
Job Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, or recent graduate.
- Demonstrated interest in politics, government, public policy, or related fields.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of the UK political system and parliamentary procedures is preferred but not required.
